The New Season Begins!

Exciting news - the 2026-2027 Season is about to begin with our Fall 2026 programming.

Our fall concert is scheduled for Nov 21, 2026 at 3pm

The opening concert will feature music of “Americana” - classic music of the United States of America as our Semiquincentennial (250th) commemoration continues.

Repertoire includes selections from all over the USA, from the founding years through present time. 

Rehearsals begin Thursday August 20th. We meet from 7pm - 9pm. Musicians are expected to arrive by 6:50pm to get set-up. 

Musicians - there is still time to join the orchestra! (Contact Dr. Mann for information)

We're actively seeking more musicians - especially violinists and violists to play with La Verne Symphony Orchestra! 

Concertmaster Auditions are open

We are a community orchestra welcoming volunteer musicians of all ages and backgrounds. To join as a new volunteer section violinist or violist, just send us a short bio and provide your contact information.  Then plan to join us (audition not required for section players to join - but may be needed after joining for placement.  Rehearsals begin Thursday August 20th.

We meet on Thursdays  in Founders Hall, and Morgan Auditorium on the University of La Verne Campus.  Rehearsals are held from 7-9pm. (Please arrive by 6:50pm for set-up)

Concertmaster is an auditioned position. Auditions for concertmaster are primarily via video submission, Just send us a short bio and a video of you playing two contrasting pieces—which could be a concerto, other solo piece, or orchestral excerpts. If you are unable to send a video, contact us by email to arrange an in-person audition.

PARKING: Street parking is available on Third Street (Sometimes it is crowded, so allow some time to find a spot). The parking lots do require permits, which are available by scanning the sign and using the parking app.

Join the La Verne Symphony Orchestra

Open to Community Members and ULV Students

The orchestra is an inter-generational ensemble with a 60+ year age range of our members. We welcome any musician, beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels, high school age or older. We pride ourselves on providing an environment for people of diverse backgrounds and ages to collaborate together and learn from each other. We are a cultural center for the community with composers, working and retired college professors, professionals, student, and recreational musicians all participating in the orchestra. This rich fabric of diversity enriches the lives of our members and of our audiences. Musicians are encouraged to contribute input and to actively participate in the musical life of the orchestra.

REGISTER FOR ORCHESTRA CLASS: Students at the University of La Verne may also participate in the orchestra. and are STRONGLY encouraged to register for  University of La Verne “Orchestra” class. to receive arts and ensemble credits. The class is MUS 119.  Community members are also encouraged to register for the class - the community class number is MUS 019.

We Welcome ULV students!
The biggest priority right now for ULV  STUDENTS is to get registered for the orchestra class (and chamber music class)! 
It is especially important for all ULV students to register before Monday, August 10th!
 

TO REGISTER:

Current ULV Students: Log in to your mylaverne portal (https://myportal.laverne.edu/) and register!

Here are the CRNs and Class numbers for regular ULV students (The most important one is orchestra). Log in to your portal and register!

ULV STUDENT CLASSES:

·         CRN 50493  MUS 119 Orchestra

·         CRN 50492  MUS 118 Chamber Ensemble

·         CRN 50473   MUS 126  Strings (weekly 30 minute private lessons)

·         CRN 50474   MUS 326 Advanced Strings (weekly one hour private lessons)

Students, if your unit load is full, please talk with your advisors about petitioning to add the one unit! I will back you up!

Community Members - It is advisable for you to get registered as well (Some of you are already signed on - thanks!). 
If you have registered in the past, it should be straightforward to log in to your portal and register. 
Here is the information for the" community classes": You do NOT register as a regular ULV student. You should register as a Non-degree seeking student. (*See section below)
